The chiropractic profession was founded in 1895 by a man named
D.D. Palmer. Over the past century it has become the largest and fastest growing natural healthcare profession in the world. Chiropractic is based on 4 major principles:
-
Structural, chemical, and emotional stressors that are too intense or too
prolonged for the body to adapt to will create stress in the body.
-
This stress will create tension and imbalances in the core muscles of the body,
causing the bones of the spine to shift and lock out of their normal alignment,
a term referred to as vertebral subluxation.
-
These vertebral subluxations will cause the spine to grow and develop into an
abnormal position and disturb the
flow of nerve impulses from the brain to the rest of the body.
-
When the flow of nerve impulses are disturbed, the body loses its ability to
self-heal and self-regulate bodily functions and may lead to a variety of
symptoms and health conditions.
The main objective of chiropractic care is to help people of all ages improve, restore, and maintain their health through the detection, correction, and prevention of vertebral subluxations. The main methods of chiropractic care include chiropractic examinations to detect vertebral subluxations, chiropractic adjustments to correct vertebral subluxations, and lifestyle modifications to prevent vertebral subluxations.
